ESTRELLA DEL NORTE VINEYARD – 106 N Shining Sun – Santa Fe, New Mexico

This is one of the best wineries / vineyards we’ve visited in the last 8 months of travel.  It is on the road, and very close to El Santuario de Chimayo.  In fact they are on the same road.  How lucky that we stopped in.  The grounds are lovely, with a beautiful statue garden.  The featured artist  is Carl Berney.

There is plenty of parking.  The tasting was $6 per person, and you can share.  The person presenting the tastings that day was Jason, a very friendly and knowledgeable guy.  He was able to tell us the history of the vineyard, as well as describe the wines and their labels.

There are lots of events at this winery.  Food Pairings, Cheese Pairings, and NM Wine History Sip and Learn.

Ofte times we go to a winery for tasting, and feel obligated to buy a little something.  At Estrella Del Norte, you will want to buy a bottle.  In fact, you’ll want to buy many bottles.  Lucky for you they have a Wine-Of-The-Month Club, and will mail the wine right to your door.

They also have three Casitas on their ten acres which are for rent on a nightly basis – lovely.

As for the wines, we purchased 4 bottles.  Among them was  a Chardonnay, non-oaky, and red table wine, Zozobra (how sorry we are that we only bought one),

If you are anywhere near Santa Fe, it is worthwhile to make the trip to this gem.
