SCARAMOUCHE – Soper’s Hole – West End Tortola – BVI

This is a truly Italian Restaurant located in Soper’s Hole on Frenchman’s Cay. It is owned and operated by Chef Chiara Valsecchi and bartender Roberto Selvi. Chiara is a graduate of the very prestigious Gambero Rosso Cooking School in Rome. Roberto is a professional mixologist since 1999. He is also a certified mixology teacher, who enjoys creating his own libations to tantalize the taste buds!

They are real go getters with a great work ethic. They offer only high end food and drinks, which Chiara describes as “contemporary” Italian-Caribbean fusion. So don’t come looking for your more mundane Italian dishes such as lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs!

Chiara is very keen on using locally available ingredients and letting her mind go wild while creating her very special Italian dishes. Her offerings are dictated by what ingredients are in season and whatever inspires her at the time.  All dishes, sauces and breads are made fresh daily, from scratch.I tried the pumpkin gnocchi, and Tim ordered the Shrimp Catalane.

In the upstairs dining room … with its crystal chandeliers, no less, you will find a small and ever changing menu offering home made pastas, gnocchi, risotto, freshly baked breads, etc. In the downstairs bar, you’ll enjoy a marvelous menu f specialty cocktails.  I tried the “Italian Job”, and Tim  had the “Lord Squash” – both delicious, and artistically served.

We both loved this place.  One of the best meals we’ve had, in a space that is upscale and artistic.  Don’t miss it !!!
