ZYDECO KITCHEN & COCKTAILS – 919 Bond St. – Bend, Or

This was a wonderful restaurant, and highly recommended. They bill themselves as northwest cuisine with a southern twist. We ate on a very busy Saturday evening, but with the many service people they employ, there was not even one glitch – not to mention that everyone encountered was professional, yet casual and friendly, especially our waitress, Jamie.
For appetizers we ate artichoke and corn fritters, with a complementary dipping sauce – yum! We also tried mussels and clams in a saffron broth that could only be described as sublime. For entrees, we had a vegetable risotto, and shrimp etouffe. Both were excellent. And it bears mentioning that there were plenty of large, perfectly cooked shrimp. All portions were large. The prices? Reasonable.
Would we return? Absolutely – again and again – and you should too.

Bonus – We brought two bottles of wine, and decided to only drink one, so that we could try a few drinks from their cocktail menu – which were perfectly prepared – no skimping on the alcohol here. Anyway, don’t ask me how, but when we left, we accidentally forgot the second bottle of wine. I called the next morning, and yes, they found it, and would keep it at the hostess stand until we were able to pick it up two days later. I’m not sure that wine would have been “found” in many restaurants. Zydeco – you are fabulous!!!
