JAMBO

September, 2016

JAMBO – College Plaza Shopping Center – 2010 Cerillos Road – Santa Fe, NM

Jambo bills itself as African-Caribbean fusion food.  It is delicious.  We shared sweet potato and black bean soup, plantain and crab fritters, Chicken Stew with a curry peanut sauce, and possibly the best Red Snapper we’ve ever had – ever!

Chef and owner Ahmed Obo was born on Lamu Island,  off the coast of Kenya. Its fusion of Swahili, Indian, Arabic, and European influences, is at the heart of this spirited cuisine, housed in  colorful, casual digs.

Jambo has won numerous awards including “Best Soup” at the Souper Bowl for four years in a row and the Santa Fe Reporter’s, “Best International Cuisine” for 6 years running and “Best Chef” in 2015 and 2016. Jambo Café was featured on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.” in 2013.
